New game announced – Catlateral Damage

Months ago Fire Hose Games announced that we were becoming an accelerator for indie games. We are very proud to announce today that we have accepted our first developer into the program, Chris Chung, and will be working with him on his destructive cat simulator Catlateral Damage.

We fell in love with this game when we played it on our livecast back in January.  When we found out that Chris was a local Boston developer we invited him to come over and use some extra desk space we had. Over the past couple weeks he’s been helping us develop the plan for the accelerator and it became very clear he should be the developer we work with first.

We’ll continue updating you with new info including screenshots, release dates, platforms, all that over the next few months. For more info follow @Firehosegames and @catlateraldmg on Twitter!

We’re giving free desk space to recently laid off developers who are going indie!

There have been a lot of layoffs in the Boston area gaming industry lately, culminating most recently with Irrational announcing that it’s effectively shutting down the studio as we know it.

Most of the developers laid off are probably wondering “What am I going to do next?”, and some are considering going indie and releasing their own games. However sometimes you need to strike while the iron is hot and we can’t sit by and watch all this potential development talent evaporate, especially considering our mission to help other indie devs. So we’re going to do what we can to help!

We’re offering free desk space to recently laid off devs who are planning on going full time indie. It’s a simple deal, and we’re hoping that it’ll help make the independent transition easier for those …

Reinventing Fire Hose

It’s time to talk about some changes that are going on at Fire Hose. These are big changes, we’re totally flipping our studio model to a new format that is better equipped to thrive in a turbulent games industry and also does a better job of helping the indie community. HOLD ON TO YOUR BUTTS, LET’S DO THIS.

I read some articles. An incubator? What the what? Yes, we’re transitioning to become an incubator, one that is specifically geared to help indies release successful games and avoid development hurdles.

How does it work? We’ll be accepting applications at some point in 2014 for talented indie developers that want to focus on game development and could use some extra help. We’ll take the most incredible developers from our applicant pool and bring them in house at Fire Hose. Then we give those devs a stipend, mentorship, feedback, help promoting their games, and assistance getting their games on the right channels and in front of the right people. Basically we’ll do everything we can to help the …
