Halloween at Fire Hose!

This year at Fire Hose we had Link, Lady and Lord Gaga, a gameboy, Harray Caray, The 10th Doctor, Ninetales, a Lemming, a tuxedo-clad deer, and not one but two Batmans.

Batmen?

Halloween is a time for gathering with friends, dressing in a ridiculous manner, and demanding candy from strangers. Recently a storm swept through Massachusetts that threatened to put Halloween on hiatus; but our party beat the storm by a day! We were able to drink, be merry, dance, and play Rock Band to our heart’s content all before two feet of snow found it’s way to Massachusetts.

We would love to know what you are all up to this Halloween. Did you dress up like a Splicer to frighten your neighbors? Put together your last pieces of battle armor to trick-or-treat Spartan style? Whatever it is that you were up to, send us some pics of you in your costume and you could get featured on an upcoming blog!

Don’t forget to “like” and look at our Facebook page for more up to date information and contests. Twitter is a good place to keep an eye on too. ^_^

Happy Halloween from Fire Hose

Do you know how hard it is to make anteanna that are bright green and don't fall apart? Really freaking hard. At least I got to play around with spray paint, I should have tagged Fire Hose.Even Quote needs to test before IGF

Halloween at Fire Hose! This year I was Quote, the heroic robot from the best game you’ve never heard of, Cave Story. Made over the course of 5 years by the incredibly talented Japanese maniac/developer Pixel, it’s an amazing Metroid-esque 2D platform shooter, and it’s got a great story. It also happens to be free, so if you haven’t tried it I strongly suggest downloading it and giving it a spin.

I hope everyone had as much fun on Halloween as we did! We made our deadline, and we’re busy blowing off steam, decompressing, and taking care of our lives outside of development. I for one have around two months worth of laundry to do. Stay tuned over the next few weeks for lots of info on our game!

Development Blog: T-Minus 4 Days to Contest Submissions

The submission will not be delayed by bad weather, faulty wiring, or cracked heat panels. WE'VE COME TOO FAR FOR THIS PEOPLE.

We’re still in crunch hell so no real post today, other than a few tantalizing tidbits of what’s to come in the following weeks:

  • Unveiling of our game’s title! I promise it will contain the word “badger” at least 15 times.
  • A video showing how we roll here at Fire Hose.
  • The first images, teasers, and art from our game.
  • Beer. Lots of it.
  • Some sweet Halloween costumes.

Wish us luck! Friday is when we pull the trigger on submitting to IGF and the Indie Game Challenge.

Development Blog: Crunch Time at Fire Hose

I think that peanut butter crunch cereal is best served as dinner as you watch movies on your laptop late at night. But what the hell is up with it cutting the roof of your mouth?

As you probably already know, we make games. Specifically, we’re busting our ass making one game which we’re hoping to have out next year on XBLA, PSN, WiiWare, PC, or some combination thereof. That means we’re going to enter our game into the IGF and SMU/Guildhall competitions.

But both submission deadlines are only two weeks away (Halloween!), and we’ve still got a lot to do before we’re ready to submit! So we’ve entered crunch, that semi-hellish, always delirious period where we eat, sleep, and live in the office in an attempt to get everything squared away on time. It’s kind of annoying that we even need to do such a thing, but I suppose that the most successful endeavors always come with a lot of hard work.

Specifically, we’re cleaning up a lot of our animations, making our characters and menus look extra shiny, squashing bugs, and trying to create an awesome set of videos, trailers, and wallpapers for all of you who are eagerly anticipating finding out what the hell we’re up to. Keep checking in here over the next few weeks and we’ll finally announce our game! Also, if you live in the area and want to stop by our office with a care package of food, booze, or caffeine, it would be greatly appreciated :)
