Go Home Dinosaurs! at PAX!

We just got back from PAX, and the show was AWESOME! We had an absolutely amazing time, and I’ll follow up soon with pictures and stories from the show. But first let’s talk GO HOME DINOSAURS! Or better yet, let’s start off with with a video shot by Stephen Totilo, the rock star reporter over at Kotaku that gives voice to all the small indies with awesome games. Take a look and you can see the game in action!

As you can see we’ve been busy – we’ve already got a few levels and the art style locked down, along with most of the core functionality. It’s been a crazy few months! We’re still going hard, and we’ll be adding in tons more content and features over the months to come. So if you live near Boston now is the time to start bugging us about coming in to try it out!

It was incredible seeing so many people playing and enjoying our game. Especially considering how nervous we were about putting it out at the show too early! We had tons of kids mesmerized by dinosaurs, hardcore gamers who were determined to protect their BBQ, and couples who wound up playing together. SO COOL. I can’t wait to post pictures.

And let’s not forget the press! Here’s what other people are saying about the game:

The scrapping continues during day 2 of PAX East! Things are even crazier than yesterday – lots of cosplayers have come out after scouting the expo hall yesterday, so everyone’s having a lot of fun. Not to mention SBS is drawing some HUGE crowds. We’re all thrilled with how things are going. So, if you’re at PAX East, definitely stop by our booth, 1133, to play some Slam Bolt Scrappers before it comes out on Tuesday.

I’ll be posting all of our pictures on our Fan Page, so stop by there for the complete Fire Hose PAX journey. And don’t forget to follow us on Twitter (@FireHoseGames) for up to the minute news about our crazy awesome fun expo time.

PAX Prime 2010 Pictures: Volume 1

Eitan Glinert playing Slam Bolt Scrappers with PAX Cosplayer Robin and Mr Destructoid Game of the Show

If you’ve checked out our Facebook Fan Page, you know we took tons of pictures of our trip to PAX Prime. All the shots were awesome, but I’m gonna use this post to highlight some of my favorites. Along the way, you’ll learn a little bit more about Fire Hose Games, and maybe, just maybe, you’ll learn a little more about yourself. Meanwhile, I’ll try to resist the urge to edit Mr. Destructoid and our Game of the Show nomination sticker into every image.

PAX Cosplay

Some awesome PAX cosplay right here. There was some debate as to who these characters are, but it doesn’t even matter, they rock.

PAX Cosplay Plants vs Zombies

Tons of people were wearing the cones from Plants vs Zombies. Coincidentally, many of those players also liked our game enough to pose for pictures.

PAX Cosplay Phoenix Wright Slam Bolt Scrappers

While his sign said “Objection!”, Phoenix Wright could not object to our awesome gameplay. Zinger.

Thank you PAX fans!

The blooper costume was probably my favorite. Not only could she see through the black part, but she kicked ass playing the game. AWESOME

We just got back from PAX, and the response was absolutely incredible. We got a mention on Penny Arcade, we were interviewed by Gamespot, we got a ton of press, and my panel on indie games went amazingly well. We couldn’t have asked for a better show.

However I need to take a step back and say that ALL of that pales in comparison to getting to spend three days on the showroom floor with real gamers playing Slam Bolt Scrappers for the first time. The PAX community is unbelievable; you guys came and literally attacked our game, and watching the gigantic smile on your face when you built up that 4×4 mega death laser of doom was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. We saw parents and their young kids teaming up with young and old couples eager to take on giant robots and flying chicken riders, and I couldn’t even keep up with all the amazing feedback we were getting. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; PAX is my favorite show because of the fans.

So THANK YOU, everyone who came to good ol’ booth 3834 and played SBS this past weekend. If you’re here for the first time (and who am I kidding? You probably are) be sure to check back over the next few days, we’ll have daily posts with pictures from the show, video and art from the game, and of course slides from the talk I gave with Dylan, Robin, Andy, and Nathan. If you can’t wait and want to see pictures NOW then I highly recommend checking us out on the facebooks and the twitters, where a lot of this stuff is up already.

Man, I miss Seattle already! Can’t wait to see you in 6 months on our turf!

Slam Bolt Scrappers will be at PAX!

Robot Boss Battle in Slam Bolt Scrappers

Just 10 days until PAX in Seattle! We’re getting really excited, we’ll be showing off a bunch of new features including new levels, new characters, and this charming guy up top. We’re talking MADNESS, people!

If you are going to be in town for the show be sure to stop by our booth (#3834, next to Square Enix and located on the lower right hand corner of the exhibitor hall map) and say hi! We’ll have some nice schwag to give out to our fans, and of course we’ll have the game for you to play.

Also I’m on a panel along with a bunch of sexy indie devs (Robin Hunicke [thatgamecompany], Nathan Vella [Capybara Games], Dylan Fitterer [Audiosurf LLC], Andy Schatz [Pocketwatch Games]), and we’ll be talking about all sorts of fun new games worth checking out. It’s called “In(die)credible! The Best New Games You Haven’t Played”, and it’s taking place on Sunday, 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM, in the Raven Theatre. Come and check it out!

Oh yeah, and we’ll be taking pictures during the show. Oh yes. PICTURES.
