Got Something To Say?

I a* supe* ang*y that s**eb*dy st*le the keys *n *y keyb*a*d. What the **ck.

Well, do ya? Why not say it on our shiny, brand new forums? We just got them started, and it’s a great way to talk to us, your friendly Fire Hose developers, and other fans/enemies/trolls. We’re going to have all sorts of threads about Slam Bolt Scrappers and other games, and we’d love for you to join.

Remember standard forum rules – keep on topic, and don’t be a dick. We’re going to moderate these forums so behave well. See you in the threads!

Fire Hose (and Slam Bolt Scrappers) at BiG

They'd have a lot more cred if they called it "Bidness in Gaming". 'Cause then it'd be bidness time.

If you’re in Boston, making video games, and/or are even remotely interested in the business side of game dev I’d definitely recommend checking out the MIT BiG conference happening this coming Friday at the Microsoft NERD center next to MIT. It’s going to be a day long deal with all sorts of interesting panels on non-traditional marketing strategies, the changing face of social games, and “the next big thing”. Of course, the panel I’m most interested in is how to build and launch a gaming start up, mostly because I’m on it. It should be a lot of fun, I know that some of the guys here in the office are already starting a pool on what kind of stupid stuff I’m going to say.

Oh, and did I mention that we’ll be showing off Slam Bolt Scrappers at the conference? It’s true! We’ll have an awesome 4 player build for people to play, so if you didn’t get a chance to try the game out at PAX East be sure to swing by the conference and give our game a shot! Priority will be given to cosplaying conference goers, especially ones dressed up as Ghostbusters or giant chickens.

IGC East Powerpoint Available Here!

Today at the IGC East Ethan and I gave a talk called “Rapid, Iterative Prototyping, or How to Rip Off Dinosaur Comics”. A lot of people were asking, so here’s the slideshow from the talk. Enjoy! I’ll gladly answer any questions in the commnets section.

GDC Slides Available

T-Rex is shocked to see Geordi LaForge! Also: They are both wondering why they were included in my talk. Curious? Grab the slides and see for yourself!

Yesterday I gave my talk to the GDC 2009 Serious Games crowd, and it went pretty well! I covered why we made AudiOdyssey and what we learned in the process, and then doled out some extra large scoops of take home tips for developers in the crowd. It seemed to go over pretty well, I only saw a few audience members fall asleep and I got some great feedback afterwards.

I’ve gotten a bunch of requests for my slides from the talk, so go ahead and grab ‘em!

Top picks for GDC 2009 lectures

It's unfortunate that my talk is on Monday, as the next four days of the conference will be a let down after the early peak.

Going to GDC this year? Not quite sure what is worth checking out? Well never fear, I’ve got your back with a list of what I suspect will be some of the more interesting talks at GDC this year. Of course, I think the highlight will probably be my 1:30 talk on Monday at Serious Games on AudiOdyssey and all things accessible/usable, but here are the other great choices:

Monday, 11:15 – 11:45am, Simon Carless talks about Indie games sales and stats in room 304 of the Indie Games Summit.

Monday, 1:30 – 2:00pm, I’ll talk about Mega Man 9 errr AudiOdyssey in room 305 of the Serious Games Summit
